How to use “used to” - Cách dùng “Used to”

“Used to” được dùng để nói về những thói quen hoặc trạng thái đã tồn tại trong quá khứ nhưng hiện tại không còn nữa.

Forms - Cấu trúc

(+) Affirmative sentences - Câu khẳng định:

S + used to + V (nguyên mẫu)

(-) Negative sentences - Câu phủ định:

S + didn’t use to + V

(?) Interrogative sentences - Câu nghi vấn:

Did + S + use to + V ?

→ Lưu ý: Sau “used to” luôn là động từ nguyên mẫu (bare infinitive).

Examples - Ví dụ:

• I used to play football when I was a child.(Tôi từng chơi bóng đá khi còn nhỏ.)

• She used to live in Hanoi.(Cô ấy từng sống ở Hà Nội.)

• He didn’t use to eat vegetables.(Anh ấy đã không từng ăn rau.)

• Did you use to ride a bike to school?(Bạn có từng đi xe đạp đến trường không?)

Không nhầm với “be used to”

→ “Be used to” + V-ing/Noun → quen với việc gì (hiện tại)

→ Đây là một cấu trúc khác hoàn toàn
