1. What are the main causes of climate change?

Sample Answer (Band 7.0+):

  1. Well, I think the main causes are human activities.

  2. Burning fossil fuels like coal and oil releases a huge amount of greenhouse gases, which trap heat in the atmosphere. Another major factor is deforestation, especially in tropical regions. Trees help absorb carbon dioxide, so cutting them down just makes the situation worse. On top of that, vehicles on the road produce a lot of carbon emissions, especially in big cities where traffic is heavy.

  3. All these activities combined are disrupting natural systems and leading to more extreme weather patterns.

2. What are the effects of air and water pollution on people’s health?

Sample Answer (Band 7.0+):

  1. The effect can be serious, especially in big cities.

  2. Air pollution often causes breathing problems like asthma or chronic bronchitis. In the long run, it can even lead to heart disease or lung cancer. As for water pollution, it can spread harmful bacteria and chemicals, leading to illnesses like diarrhea, skin infections, or even poisoning. Children and the elderly are especially vulnerablesince their immune systems are weaker.

  3. Both types of pollution can seriously harm public health if left uncontrolled.

Sample Answer (Band 7.0+):

  1. Yes, I think schools should definitely do that.

  2. If students learn how to separate trash, reuse materials, or avoid single-use plastics, they’re more likely to care about the environment later in life. Also, schools are perfect places to raise awareness because they can combine theory with real actions—like recycling projects or zero-waste campaigns.

  3. In the long run, this kind of education can create a more environmentally responsible generation.

4. Why do some people choose not to recycle even when it’s easy?

Sample Answer (Band 7.0+):

  1. Well, I think it’s mainly because of their established habits and mindset.

  2. Some people are simply accustomed to throwing everything in one bin and feel unwilling to spend time sorting their waste properly. Others don’t see the point—they might feel that one person’s effort has little impact, especially if they don’t see clear results. Also, in some places, there’s also a lack of strict regulations, so people don’t feel compelled to do it.
