Định nghĩa So sánh hơn và So sánh nhất

Comparatives (So sánh hơn) được dùng để so sánh hai người, vật hoặc nhóm.

Superlatives (So sánh nhất) được dùng để so sánh một người/vật với một nhóm hoặc với tất cả.

Cách dùng

Comparative Dùng để so sánh hai đối tượng 

This book is more interesting than that one. (Cuốn sách này thú vị hơn cuốn kia.)

Superlative Dùng để so sánh một đối tượng với một nhóm 

She is the most intelligent student in the class. (Cô ấy là học sinh thông minh nhất lớp.)

Cấu trúc

Short Adjectives (Tính từ ngắn – 1 âm tiết, 2 âm tiết kết thúc bằng -y)

Comparative (So sánh hơn)	Superlative (So sánh nhất)
Adj + -er + than	The + Adj + -er
Big ➜ Bigger than	The biggest
Fast ➜ Faster than	The fastest
Happy ➜ Happier than	The happiest

→ Nếu tính từ kết thúc bằng “y”, đổi “y” thành “i” trước khi thêm ”-er” hoặc “-est”.

Example:

• This road is narrower than that one.

• That was the happiest day of my life.

  
  

Long Adjectives (Tính từ dài – 2 âm tiết trở lên, không kết thúc bằng -y)

Comparative (So sánh hơn)	Superlative (So sánh nhất)
More + Adj + than	The most + Adj
Expensive ➜ More expensive than	The most expensive
Beautiful ➜ More beautiful than	The most beautiful

Example:

• This movie is more exciting than the last one.

• That was the most difficult exam I have ever taken.

Irregular Adjectives (Các tính từ bất quy tắc)

Good	Better than	The best
Bad	Worse than	The worst
Far	Better than	The farthest/The furthest
