Đề Thi IELTS Writing 02.09.2025

Task 1: The maps below show Huntingdon as it is now, and how it will change in the future. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Sample: (184 words)

The maps compare the present layout of Huntingdon with its proposed development plan for the future. Overall, the town is expected to undergo considerable transformations, primarily in its transport infrastructure, whereas the town centre and built-up area will remain intact.

At present, the airfield occupies a substantial area in the north-west of the town. To the east of the railway line lies the existing residential zone, consisting of housing and other facilities. The town centre is encircled by a ring road, providing access to the surrounding areas. On the south-western side of the town, the railway station is located just south of Brampton Road, adjacent to the railway line.

In the future, the current airfield will be converted into an industrial estate, marking a shift from open land to commercial use. Notably, a newly constructed roundabout will be introduced at the junction of the A14 and Brampton Road, enhancing traffic flow and accessibility. Meanwhile, the A1 road will no longer provide direct access to Brampton Road and the residential area, as it will be realigned further south, forming a new route around the town.

- undergo considerable transformations: trải qua những thay đổi đáng kể

- remain intact: vẫn được giữ nguyên / không bị ảnh hưởng

- occupy a substantial area: chiếm một khu vực đáng kể / một vùng diện tích lớn

- adjacent (adj) (to): liền kề, sát bên cạnh

- realign (v): điều chỉnh lại hướng, sắp xếp lại

Task 2: In this technological age, personal information is held on computers by many companies and organisations. Do you think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

Sample: (267 words)

In today’s digital era, corporations and public institutions increasingly store individuals’ personal data on electronic systems. While this trend undoubtedly offers  greater efficiency, I firmly believe that the potential risks related to privacy breaches and data misuse far outweigh its benefits.

Admittedly, storing personal information on computers provides several benefits for both individuals and organisations. It enhances operational efficiency, allowing instant retrieval of information for banking, healthcare, or educational purposes. For example, hospitals can access patients’ medical records immediately, leading to faster service and more accurate diagnoses and treatments. Moreover, it is cost-efficient as computerized data storage reduces administrative costs, regarding traditional paper and printing expenses, thus contributing to environmental sustainability.

However, despite these merits, the drawbacks that this trend poses are more serious. The foremost concern is the growing threat of cyber attacks and data breaches, which can expose sensitive information such as credit card details or national identification numbers. Once such data fall into the wrong hands, individuals may suffer from identity theft or financial fraud, causing irreversible harm. In addition, many companies exploit users’ personal data for commercial purposes, selling them to third parties or using them for targeted advertising without consent. Not only does this violate privacy rights, but it also erodes public trust in digital systems.

In conclusion, although the digital storage of personal information provides certain conveniences in terms of efficiency, the risks associated with privacy invasion and cybersecurity threats are far more concerning. Therefore, I hold the view that the disadvantages clearly outweigh the advantages, and stronger data protection regulations should be implemented to safeguard individuals in this technological era.

- breach (n): sự xâm phạm

- to contribute to environmental sustainability: góp phần vào sự bền vững môi trường

- irreversible (adj): không thể đảo ngược/phục hồi
